Blueberries are small fruits that come from a wild bush in the genus Vaccinium, which includes 400 other species. They are originally from North America. The United States is both one of the largest producers and buyers of this small berry.

Blueberries stand out from the other berries because of its slightly special flavor. The berry can be used in many different ways. Use it for example. in cakes, jams, wine or on top of your morning yogurt. I like to make a juice or smoothie with these little berries. It just tastes great.

You can also make your own jars for your morning juice and make them personal.

This little berry has so many good nutrients and minerals that you can benefit from if you eat it regularly. This applies to both your inner and outer parts

Blue berries benefits for your health

Improved dental hygiene

Taking blueberries regularly helps prevent osteoporosis and infections that affect your dental health. This is because this little berry has the minerals potassium, iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese and Vitamin K. These essential minerals are, as I said, useful for protecting your bone density and they also strengthen the health of your teeth.

Good for your heart

As you have just read, blueberries contain significant amounts of potassium and magnesium. These are two important minerals that help regulate your body's inflammatory processes and can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Good in the fight against diabetes

People with very high blood sugar or those at risk of diabetes can find joy in this little berry. The blueberry's content of fiber and antioxidants helps lower your blood sugar when consumed.

Are blueberries good for your aging process?

Helps against aging

Blueberries also help protect the brain from diseases that are often associated with aging - such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Pro aging / anti-age

The antioxidants found in the blueberry are also good for your skin - as they help fight the signs of your skin's aging. Vitamins A and E as well as fatty acids found in blueberries nourish the skin and help it recover and it is a good sign when we are talking pro-aging / anti-age

I have mentioned some of the benefits of eating these small delicious berries regularly and a brief summary is:

  • Help your digestion
  • A good tool in the fight against skin aging
  • Promotes healthy bones in our body
  • Good in the fight against our blood pressure and the diseases it can cause
  • Helps with age-related diseases such as dementia & Alzheimer's
  • Good against cardiovascular disease

How to buy

The fresher your berries, the better the taste. If you have the opportunity, buy your berries either locally or at the greengrocer - or pick them yourself. If this is not possible then choose, if possible, organically grown berries, especially raspberries and strawberries (both rank high for pesticide residues in commercial samples)

How to store it

Once you have brought your berries home, do not wash them - moisture on the surface of berries encourages advice. Instead, discard the damaged or moldy berries, pat the others dry and store them in a clean, dry container. Berries quickly become worse, so eat them within 1 day or 2 days. Storage in the fridge will help them last longer, but berries taste best at room temperature. Rinse your berries before eating.

Tips for preparation

If you have extra berries then you can freeze them. Wash the berries, remove any leaf part on top and pat them dry. Spread the berries on a towel in a single layer and leave them to dry. Place the berries in a sealed plastic bag and freeze them for up to 6 months.

I have now given you a lot of blueberries benefits both in terms of health and beauty. I hope you will be able to benefit from this knowledge and explore this wonderful berry yourself.
